Bonus credit varies from $15 to $500. Terms apply.

If you've been putting off opening a new cash back card, this one's worth a look. The U.S. Bank Cash+® Visa Signature® Card is currently offering a $250 bonus after you spend $1,000 in eligible purchases within the first 90 days of account opening — and it comes with no annual fee.

The bonus, in plain terms

  • Spend $1,000 within 90 days of opening the account

  • Earn a one-time $250 bonus, credited 1–2 billing cycles after you hit the spend requirement

  • Existing or previous U.S. Bank Cash Rewards accounts don't qualify — this is for new cardholders only

That's a $1,000 spend threshold most people clear on groceries and gas alone, so this isn't a hard bonus to hit if you were going to spend that money anyway.

Why Cash+ is different from a typical cash back card

Most flat-rate cash back cards give you 1.5–2% on everything. Cash+ works differently — you pick your own categories every quarter:

  • 5% cash back on your first $2,000 in combined purchases each quarter across two categories you choose (options include gas stations/EV charging, home utilities, TV/internet/streaming, department stores, cell phone bills, electronics stores, furniture stores, gyms, and more)

  • 2% cash back on one everyday category of your choice — gas stations, grocery stores, or restaurants

  • 1% cash back on everything else

The catch: you have to actively select and activate your categories each quarter, or everything defaults to 1%. Set a calendar reminder — it takes about 30 seconds in the app.

Other perks worth knowing

  • 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for the first 15 billing cycles

  • 5% cash back on prepaid air, hotel, and car reservations booked through U.S. Bank's Travel Center

  • Redeem cash back as a statement credit, a deposit to a U.S. Bank account, or Real-Time Rewards that apply cash back instantly via text

NerdWallet named it Best 0% APR Credit Card for Purchases in its 2024 awards, for what that's worth.

Who this makes sense for

This card is a strong fit if you already have a good-to-excellent credit score and want a no-fee card where you control the top earning categories instead of being locked into whatever the issuer picked. It's a weaker fit if you'd rather not think about quarterly category selection at all — in that case, a flat-rate card will serve you better.

As always: this isn't personalized financial advice. Check the current terms directly with U.S. Bank before applying, since offers and terms can change.
